	CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS for the exhibition year February 2009 to February 2010 The Sunshine Coast Arts Council + Arts Centre invites artists to submit exhibition proposals for the Doris Crowston Gallery, in any visual art medium, of work that has not been exhibited on the Coast in the last six months. 	Call for Submissions • The Sunshine Coast Arts Council + Arts Centre [SCAC+AC] invites artists to submit exhibition proposals for the Doris Crowston Gallery, in any visual art medium, of work that has not been exhibited on the Coast in the last six months. • Proposals must be received by October 10, 2008. • The Jury meets once a year. It is composed of curators and volunteer artists active in the arts community. • The Jury allots a span of five [5] years between individual’s exhibitions. • Two concurrent exhibitions are usually scheduled for each time slot in the next calendar year—February 2009 to February 2010. • Artists will be notified by mail, or email within four weeks of the completion of the Jury’s process. No telephone calls please. • Accepted proposals will be kept on file for reference until after the scheduled exhibition. • Artists accepted to exhibit must be or become members of the SCAC. • Declined entries will be returned in your selfaddressed and stamped suitable package for mailing or by pickup. • Critique of artist’s work or proposals is not available through the SCAC. Presentation of the Proposal 1. CD of 6-10 images, jpg only, 300 dpi, sized to 8”x6”, 2400 x 1800 pixels. Label CD with your name. OR send SLIDES—6-10 35mm colour slides [no glass slides]. Label the slide sheet with your name, and label the slides on the side facing the projectionist with: ARTIST’s NAME, MEDIUM, TITLE OF WORK, SLIDE NUMBER, DIMENSIONS OF WORK, and AN ARROW INDICATING UP IN THE CAROUSEL. 2. CD/SLIDE LIST [download from www.scartscouncil.com] include a legible list with titles, date of production, medium, sale price [framed, for two dimensional work] and size. 3. Letter of Intent—maximum 300 words; describe the proposed exhibition. To show strength and cohesiveness of concept, please discuss your vision of the exhibition, including a description of the art and the number of pieces to be included. 4. Artist Statement maximum 300 words. In relationship to your current work, describe your artistic concerns and your art making process. 5. Your Curriculum Vitae, including Exhibition record and short biography. 6. A Self-Addressed Stamped package suitable for the mail return of your proposal, or for pickup. 7. PLEASE NOTE • Do not send ORIGINAL ART work. • Incomplete submissions will not be presented to the Jury. • All submissions will be treated with care, the Arts Centre assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged submission materials • Send copies only, NO originals. • See postal & courier/delivery addresses below.
