Kay Bonathan was born in Montreal and studied art history and visual art at McGill and Concordia Universities. In 1970 she began to specialize in sculpture and three dimensional design. She has taught art in several post secondary institutions including Sir George Williams University, Concordia University, the Academie des Beaux Arts, Douglas College, Kwantlen University College, Surrey, B.C. and in Haiti, She has been a resident and active community artist on the Sunshine Coast since 1991 and has been hosting the cable TV program, Arts Update, since 1994. She works in a wide variety of sculptural forms and materials including: fiberglass, plywood, concrete, cold cast bronze, antler, hydrostone, ceramics, and recycled materials. Recently she has been exploring the potentials of raku ceramics as well as designing and building houses. Her work may be viewed at the Gift of the Eagle Gallery and in the gardens of Rosewood Country House, both in Gibsons, B.C., and also at Artifax Design Ltd., Vancouver. Kay has travelled extensively in the Caribbean, Asia, and Mexico and now lives in Coquitlam |
