Jan Jensen's love of movement and eclectic background all combine in a unique ability to share her vision and passion for the art of creative living.

She has been teaching art since 1982, Nia Technique and Playshops since 1997 and was a teacher of teachers in the 1970's. She is a skilled visual artist and Black Belt Nia Instructor.

Her art has been exhibited across Canada, including Vancouver's Cartwright Street Gallery, the Walter Phillips Gallery in Banff, and the Burlington Cultural Centre in Ontario.

Jan's Nia Technique Black Belt training is supported by professional mind-body-spirit education, ballet, jazz, tai chi, and yoga, with introductions to Gabriel Roth's five rhythms, Aikido and Feldenkrais.

Her playshops combine Nia Technique and art to explore and expand creativity, to manage stress, and to develop healthy life strategies.

Nia Technique is a dynamic and multi-dimensional fitness program - invigorating your body and your life with power, pleasure and imagination

The carefully crafted routines combine a mind, body and spirit approach to fitness using the proven benefits of cardio, stretching, and using natural body weight to build strength.

Each class is lead through a series of natural movements that apply dance theory, guided imagery, tai chi and other martial arts, and body alignment practices.

Martial arts and meditative techniques teach mindfulness, a powerful tool for self-discovery. Dance techniques teach how to move with grace and fluidity.

All Nia movements are adaptable and can be personalized for any level of fitness and agility.

In this dynamic playshop Jan combines drawing techniques and abstract movement - Nia Technique using a variety of media in small and large-scale projects to draw out creative inclinations and expand your creative repertoire. Free Expression is for anyone who is intrigued by the creative process, from those with no experience to those seeking a new perspective.
