Canadian singer songwriter Angie McCauley has been writing songs for over 20 years. She is a musical storyteller, weaving colourful lyrical portraits that are honest, direct, down-to-earth, and delivered in her smooth "country soul" blend of roots, alternative country, and folk. Tackling the challenges of everyday living and loving as well as tough social issues she manages to communicate a sense of resilience, hope and self-empowerment. Raised in Burnaby, BC, Angie began piano lessons at age 9, sang in the school choir, and began playing guitar at 14. At 17 she left home with a backpack and guitar, traveled the Pacific Northwest from Northern BC to New Mexico, and wrote her first song. From that time on she has continued to develop her style experimenting with a wide variety of musical genres. In 1997, Angie moved to the Sunshine Coast, one of BC’s best known arts communities, where she began performing her original material at coffee houses, country fairs, concert halls, and festivals. In 1999 she won a songwriting contest sponsored by a local newspaper, and with the support of fellow musicians her career and fan base began to grow. |
